Capstan Service

A windlass is a horizontal or vertical mechanism operated by hydraulic, electric, steam or human power, used for mooring, berthing or pulling the boat by winding the ropes. Capstan is a deck mechanism, which is a horizontal winch type used to lift cable tension anchors during mooring, unlike the windlass, it has a horizontal shaft. The iron capstan is designed to serve the anchor chains on both sides.

Capstan repair and maintenance should be carried out in accordance with the rules regarding the technical functioning of the ship's auxiliary machinery and equipment.
